Succulent Steel

Steel pine cones!! I have a story from my childhood involving a pine cone. I recently made a cone to honor my late Aunt Patsy, who taught me to love art. I have been surprised by so many emotional reactions it (especially Paradise people). So I made more!! There is no greater reward for an artist than creating something that sparks joy in others. I love just “forging around” creating the rich texture on every scale.

Today I had the honor of “enhancing” a memorial sign. A first for me on several levels. A few years ago a friend and colleague succumbed to cancer (attributed to on-duty activity). Darrin was an instrumental part of bringing a wellness facility to CPD. The Police Officer’s Association had this sign made in his memory, but it was missing something. Darrin was so much more than just the silhouette of a star. Today, I enriched the stars and filled them with something I hope Darrin would be proud of. Darrin was a passionate police officer and I can only hope this does his legacy justice. Thank you for your service 66.
