More of this please! The Debt Gala, a parody fundraiser (the night before the Met Gala) benefiting people with extreme medical debt, wherein attendees make their outfits out of upcycled/recycled/used materials. Art + fashion + philanthropy, from the have-somes to the have-alot-lesses, which all stemmed from a bar conversation among friends.✨
You've heard of the Met Gala, but how about New York’s Debt Gala?
“Every BODY is different.” Here are some examples of clothing alterations, customizations, and repair that I’ve done recently, or do regularly:
- converting a shirt collar into a clergy collar
- making a baby dress from a curtain valance
- redesigning a heritage wedding dress into a modern style while making it several sizes larger
- taking in leather racing pants from waist through seat and legs
- tailoring uniforms, work, sports, and school wear
- replacing zippers & zipper pulls
- repairing holes in sweaters/knits
- repairing leather jacket rips
- patching knees/crotches/etc in pants/jeans
- sewing custom messages by the letter or patch
- making pants into skirts
- tailoring winter coats
- re/making pockets
- taking in pants/skirt waists
- hemming pants/skirts/dresses/shirts
- taking in button down shirts through body/sleeves
- shortening sleeves on shirts/coats
- bridesmaids dresses taken in/let out/hemmed/etc
- and tons of wedding dresses refitted/restyled or fully Franken-styled piecing together different dresses to create a new one
Contact me for your clothing alterations, repair, and restyling needs, by texting or leaving a voicemail at 513-542-4577, or email [email protected]. Please include your project details, relevant photos, and specific deadline if any. My studio is still located in Northside, 45223, and operates by appointment only.
What might I sew for you, for YOUR specific body type?

14 years ago, Leap Day, NVISION opened, and then blossomed, and then expanded, and then...
Can't bring myself to celebrate per se, let alone make a new graphic, so let's call this year's 14th anniversary The 13th 2.0 🤷♀️
NVISION isn't what it once was, I'm still working through the COVID upheaval, and navigating the new smaller studio space, but I do have plans for more vintage product shop-ability, soon.
Meanwhile, keep those sewing jobs coming in, please and thank you! 💕
On this day 13 years ago, Leap Day 2008, I opened NVISION.
On this day 1 year ago, I was crazy sick and missed my own anniversary party, including the TV camera crew that came to capture it (thanks, and sorry Kim!). Looking back, having spent 5 days super sick in bed back then, maybe it was COVID, we didn't know enough yet. But I digress.
On this day TODAY, I wonder about the stages of grief for the loss of the business I created, and transformed into something more than I ever imagined, and am now in the process of pivoting into a new version of itself, 300+ days into this pivot. It took me a couple months to fully decide on that pivot, and another month or so to announce it publicly, that I would not be reopening the shop or returning to "business as usual." I'm still figuring out what the future holds for NVISION, making it up as I go, closing one chapter, and opening the next.
NVISION is still alive, I'm still doing clothing alterations and repairs, and still getting settled in the new location, 1546 Knowlton Street, by appointment only. I'm unable to accommodate browsing appointments in the way shoppers might expect. But I AM able to personalize a shopping appointment tailored to your tastes/size/product category needs. And I will return to posting vintage clothing and accessories for purchase online and through the website, SOON. Stay tuned for updates.
❤️ In the meantime, please reach out through voicemail or text to 513-542-4577, or email [email protected]. ❤️

If you've ever worn DENIM, let alone blue jeans, I highly highly HIGHLY recommend you take the time to watch this American Experience | PBS documentary, Riveted: the History of Jeans, linked below. It swings broadly with the true stories of how denim came to be, through the lenses of culture, race and class, from practical applications to ubiquitous fashion, and all the lost/buried stories of who is and isn't credited, to all the ways denim is worn today. Plus the magic of indigo, the controversial ways in which overalls have been worn, and how we've landed on the words denim, dungarees, and blue jeans, it's not what you'll find on Wikipedia!
https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/films/riveted-history-of-jeans
Also, if you're so inclined, please give a follow to Fashion Historian Jonathan Square's page Fashioning the Self in Slavery and Freedom for more historical fashion discussion and musings.
I will make my TV premiere on tonight's episode of American Experience | PBS, which explores the history of denim in the United States. Though denim is often associated with the Old West and the Gold Rush, rough, durable workwear made from "jeans" were worn by enslaved people prior to the mid-nineteenth century. The broadcast will stream live with the broadcast, which you can access here: to.pbs.org/34gPjo7 or via the PBS Video app on your streaming device.
