This June I had the opportunity to work on the Cincinnati Public Radio and Urbanist Media’s 2026 Juneteenth series, creating their visual branding, episode thumbnails, and educational social content.

The year, the series explores Cincinnati’s Green Book sites and the history of Black travel during Jim Crow America, where the Green Book served as both a guide and a lifeline for safety, connection, and survival.

The design work leaned on pattern, color, and shape inspired by the era and history being explored, and incorporated real archival photography throughout the series visuals.

Big congratulations to the Urbanist Media team on a series that’s so thoughtful, well-researched, and intentional. It was an honor to contribute to the visual side of your work!

If you haven’t listened yet, the full 2026 season is available through WVXU and Cincinnati Public Radio: https://cinradio.org/juneteenth-special-programming-from-urbanist-media/

In this month's Trail Mix newsletter, I shared the story of summiting Mt. Hood this past weekend, my 45th state highpoint.

After six years of chasing highpoints across the country, I've started noticing a pattern. It's a lesson that has shaped how I approach challenges, creativity, and even my work as a designer.

I also shared:
🌸🧘A recent project for an upcoming community event with The Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center Upstander Month campaign at Union Terminal
📅 June studio updates and availability

Trail Mix is my monthly newsletter for Nicole Chance Design where I share adventures, creative projects, behind-the-scenes stories, and lessons I'm learning along the way.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, I'd love to have you along for the journey!

I’m really excited to finally share that I am officially stepping into full time freelancing with Nicole Chance Design as a graphic designer and mural artist 🎨💻🎉

This is something I’ve been building toward quietly for a while now. Working full time while taking on freelance projects on the side, learning, growing, and falling more in love with the work each year. At some point recently, it became really clear that I was ready to fully lean in.

If you know me, you probably know I’ve said “maybe one day” about freelancing more than once. That “one day” is now. So here I am, choosing it.

I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences that led me here, and even more grateful for the people who have encouraged and supported me along the way. This decision feels both scary and deeply right in the best way.

I’ve had a lot of people ask how they can support me, and honestly, one of the biggest ways is by following my social accounts, sharing my work, engaging with posts, recommending me to others, and keeping me in mind for future creative projects.

And if you or someone you know needs graphic design support, branding, marketing design, or a mural that brings a space to life, I’d genuinely love to collaborate.

My schedule is officially open for new projects, and I’m really excited for what’s ahead!
