Players and families,

I’ll try to keep this as brief as possible, but I also feel a full explanation is deserved. I am stepping down as the head coach for Reading Baseball for now. We all know how important family is and my reasons are solely family based. I made the decision to take a count of how many events I have missed for my three kids over the past 18 months. It totaled more than eighty. I missed every spring game my son played in college his freshman year. My oldest daughter is entering her senior year. She plays lacrosse and I have seen four games in two years. My youngest daughter started competitive softball this past spring and I missed twenty-three games of hers during our RHS season. Not to mention, concerts, award ceremonies and other various events for all three.

My family, my wife in particular, has never been anything but supportive of my coaching career. She cried along with me as I made this decision because she knows what it means to me. I have coached baseball for Reading in some capacity (8 years as the Head Coach) for twenty years. This program is family to me. As the program moves forward, my wish is to take on a volunteer position and on the administrative side, to be able to remain involved as much as possible, but be present for my family. As we all know, these are moments we cannot get back. Full time coaching, which I love, will hopefully be an option down the road. I have confidence that the next head coach will continue to move our program forward in the right direction.

This has not been an easy decision for me. I feel this is the time to make up for lost time with my family, while still giving every minute that I can to the RHS Baseball program. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
