Gen-1 Program

“We have the honor of introducing another member of Cohort 14 - join us in welcoming Mamadou Diallo! Mamadou is a first-year student who graduated from Aiken New Technical High School last spring. At UC, he majors in computer engineering and he hopes to complete his degree significantly more knowledgeable about computers. He enjoys playing games and hanging out with his friends in his free time. Mamadou received the Darwin T. Turner Scholarship in addition to receiving a Gen-1 Scholarship. After graduating from UC, Mamadou hopes to start his own company!
Fun fact: He is the first in his family to go to college!

Please allow us to introduce another astounding trailblazer and member of Gen-1’s Cohort 14- Brooklyn Thorton, commonly known as BK. BK is a proud 2021 graduate of Hughes STEM High School where she was a part of the track team. She is majoring in interdisciplinary studies, and hopes to get good grades and make lots of memories throughout her collegiate career. In her free time she enjoys painting, watching anime, and doing makeup. After graduation, BK hopes to become a travel nurse. Fun fact: BK reads tarot cards!
