Learning with Michael: Let’s Talk About POTS ❤️
Have you ever stood up and suddenly felt dizzy, lightheaded, shaky, weak, or like your heart was racing?
That could be something called POTS, which stands for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.
POTS affects how your body responds when you change positions, especially when going from sitting or lying down to standing. It can cause symptoms like:
❤️ Fast heart rate
😵 Dizziness or lightheadedness
😴 Fatigue
🧠 Brain fog
💪 Weakness or shakiness
🫠 Feeling like you may faint
POTS is real, and it can be frustrating when symptoms are brushed off. Diagnosis may involve checking heart rate and blood pressure with position changes or specialized testing. Many people improve with the right plan, which may include fluids, salt intake, compression, physical therapy, lifestyle changes, and sometimes medication.
