Spiritual Reflections 06.22.26

Good Morning Crossroad Family,

Genesis 11:1 says, “And the whole earth was of one language, and one speech.”

In the beginning humanity had only one language. There was only one group on the earth and one cultural experience. As much as God desires for us to dwell in unity and peace, humanity can often use that unity for sin. Understand that God wants compassion amid our differences. He does not want us so comfortable in our tribe of same-minded people that we drift away from Him. Be careful not to find your identity in others and not in who God created you to be. Remember that God does not want “Cookie Cutter” Christians. Nothing in creation is the exact same. No two snowflakes are alike- no two blades of grass are alike- no two people alike.

We were all made with exceptional gifts and with a distinctive personality, we all were designed to speak with certain people like no one else can, therefore ask God to help you embrace others'
diversity.

Learn to celebrate the life God gave you. Learn to develop your own style, personality, and gifts while He continues to shine through you. Learn to glorify Him in all you say and do. It’s OK, to be you! "In Him we live and move and have our being." - Acts 17:28.

Grace & Peace,
Chap. Darryl Anderson

Spiritual Reflections 06.08.26

Good Morning Crossroad Family,

Matthew 5:3 says, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Jesus began His famous sermon on the Mount, which are commonly known as the Beatitudes or the ‘beautiful attitudes of Jesus’. We understand that to be physically poor is to lack resources or material possessions. The word “poor” may trigger a mental image of someone who can’t pay their bills, can’t break free from the cycle of poverty, or can’t afford to buy the basic needs of human existence- food, clothing, or shelter.

But it means something totally different when we think of spiritual poverty. Jesus conveys that it is a good thing. Those that recognize their own spiritual poverty know that without God in their lives, they are spiritually bankrupt. To be poor in spirit means that it is humility, not pride or self-reliance, that is a common characteristic in the kingdom of heaven.

The poor in spirit recognize that they can’t, but He can. They understand that ‘For in Him that we live, move and have our being.’ (Acts 17:28.)

Most of us would prefer to be wealthy or at least to live comfortably; and there’s nothing wrong with that. But even if we are financially stable or healthy, we cannot save ourselves. We need God and He’s provided our security through His son, Jesus. So, when you feel poor in spirit, know that you are in the perfect position to be saved and accepted into the family of God.

Grace & Peace,
Chap. Darryl Anderson
