Artus Van Briggle painted Sunny Afternoon in 1893, the same year he studied at Académie Julian in Paris. At 24 years old, the young artist was clearly in full command of his Art Academy of Cincinnati education and incredible talent. No wonder his work is in permanent collections at the Met, the Smithsonian, the British Museum, the Louvre, and the home of one more happy collector.
