Today at Albin Vet we had the amazing opportunity to castrate a Reticulated Giraffe! We had the amazing OKC Zoo Vet team run anesthesia while our Albin Vet team performed the surgery and hoof trim! Here at Albin Vet we don’t always don a surgical gown before surgery….in fact some days we’re just happy if we get through a surgery without losing our pants.

We had such a fun time in Enid yesterday! It’s always such a joy to go to Randy and Amanda’s to work on and play with their sweet and beautiful animals. Every animal they own is SO AMAZINGLY sweet, social, handleable, and loves to be pet…even the sweet boy that created me a pair of Daisy Duke’s during his castration. We castrated two beautiful Nilgai yesterday. They are both SO sweet. The first Nilgai castration went beautifully. The second Nilgai castration was a rodeo. We got the job done and the sweet boy is doing great….he didn’t stay down as well as I would have hoped….during his castration he started to kick and buck and literally tore my pants, front and back, with his back hooves. I have to brag on Randy and Amanda. They are such good friends and clients. They are such a blessing to us. While I was recovering this precious angel who fashioned me a denim hula skirt they ran and bought me a new pair of jeans. To quote my man, Randy “It’s easier to buy you a new pair of jeans than to come visit you in jail for indecent exposure” 😂🤣😂 I love you two! Thanks for everything! Y’all are amazing and your animals are too! I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!!!! 🤠❤️
