Pyramid Model Monday

Everyday moments are opportunities to build connection and trust with your little one. This, in turn, establishes a nurturing and responsive relationship. Having this connection allows the parent to support the child through difficult times of big emotions.

Connect Before You Direct2
► What it means: Before giving a direction or guiding a behavior, take a moment to connect with the
child first. Consider the child’s experience and be flexible whenever possible. After connecting, you
might support them in doing something different than what you planned. At other times, you might
offer responsive choices that still align with your plan but also demonstrate understanding and give the
child some autonomy.

Talk About It Tuesday

If you were not able to attend the Potty-Training discussion last week, here is a little information that was shared about how to determine if your little one is ready to potty train.
They can follow simple directions.
They start having longer stretches of being dry. (i.e. they wake up dry, or nearly dry, after naps and bedtime)
They have good enough communication skills to let you know when they need to go.
They don’t like being wet or dirty. (i.e. they hide when they p**p, stick hands down pants, ask to be changed, bring you a clean diaper, etc.)
They are starting to show independence (that “I do it myself” attitude).
They understand the concept of hurrying.
They can undress by themselves.
They are starting to show interest in the toilet.
