Texas includes some of the most southern and eastern reaches of mule deer range. We work closely with our member chapters and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to get habitat work done on the ground. Over the past four years, our Great Plains Initiative has improved water and habitat resources for mule deer and wildlife, benefitting herds in seven different wildlife management areas across western Texas. We're grateful to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for supporting this Initiative across 10 states!

The Mule Deer Foundation applauds Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon and the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission for designating the Sublette Antelope Migration Corridor. This designation complements the Sublette Mule Deer Migration Corridor that recognizes the longest mule deer migration in the U.S. These intersecting corridors are vital, and actions to increase recognition and public awareness will benefit these landscapes, migrations, and mule deer, and help sustain these irreplaceable places for generations.
Check out our MDF Media YouTube page for recent videos about this mule deer migration corridor! https://bit.ly/4rayMH5
The story of America is written on our public lands. As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is proud to partner with the U.S. Department of the Interior - Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on sagebrush planting projects in Idaho that are helping to restore landscapes impacted by invasive plants and wildfires.
In Fall 2025, MDF planted 157,000 shrubs on BLM lands across Idaho’s Wedge Butte, Arco Desert, and Owyhee Desert. These restoration efforts are rebuilding critical winter range for mule deer while improving the health and resilience of our public lands for future generations.
Check out the new Great American Expedition website: https://www.doi.gov/freedom250/GAE. MDF's work across Idaho is highlighted as a stop on the interactive map!
Conservation is one way we're honoring America's legacy and helping to shape its future.
