More and more Americans are buying insurance to protect their families, according to a recent study. Perhaps you are one of them.

Most people don't realize that Medicare enrollment isn't automatic — and missing your window can cost you for life.

When you turn 65, you have a 7-month Initial Enrollment Period. Miss it and you face a late enrollment penalty on Part B that gets permanently added to your premium — 10% for every 12-month period you were eligible but didn't enroll.

There are exceptions if you're still working and covered under an employer group plan — but the rules are specific and easy to get wrong. The most common mistake I see? People assume Medicare is automatic at 65 if they're already collecting Social Security. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it isn't. Finding out you assumed wrong is an expensive lesson.

If you're turning 65 in the next 12 months — or know someone who is — let's talk before the window closes. I'll walk you through exactly what you need to do and when.

No cost. No pressure. Just answers.

Happy 4th of July from TD Coverage!

This Independence Day, I'm thinking about a different kind of independence — the freedom that comes with having the right Medicare coverage in place.

If you or someone you love is turning 65 this summer, now is the time to act. Medicare's Initial Enrollment Period opens 3 months before your birthday month — and missing that window can mean delayed coverage and penalties that follow you permanently.

The good news? You don't have to figure it out alone.

I just published a new blog post walking through everything you need to know when you turn 65 — from Part A and Part B to choosing between Medicare Advantage and Medigap, and how to handle Part D drug coverage. It's a free read, just like my consultations.

$30/month.

That's about what most people spend on coffee in a week.

It's also what a healthy 35-year-old pays for a $500,000 term life insurance policy.
I'm not here to guilt anyone. But I do think it's worth asking — what are we protecting and what are we just consuming?

Life insurance isn't for you. It's for the people who love you and depend on you. It's the one financial decision where you never personally benefit — but the people who matter most absolutely do.

If you don't have coverage or haven't looked at your options in a few years, let's change that. It takes about 10 minutes and costs less than you think.
