This month, we’re pleased to welcome Valery N. Bliznyuk, PhD, DSc, Research Associate Professor in Clemson’s Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences and Graduate Faculty with the School of Nursing.
Dr. Bliznyuk will present “Melanin-like Polymers for Retention of Actinides, Active Components of Sensors and Beyond.”

We’re pleased to welcome CU alumnus Dr. Kenny Yeh, Head of Biodefense and Federal Partnerships at Safetraces. Dr. Yeh will share insights from his work in biodefense, including field detection of biothreat agents, development of real-time qPCR platforms, and partnerships across the global health security community.

We’re excited to return after a short break and especially thrilled to welcome any new members joining us this semester! 💜🧡🐾
Join us on Wednesday, October 29 at 4:30 PM for our first HCGS meeting of the semester!
We’re honored to welcome Hannah Folau, a graduate student at Georgetown University, who will share key themes from her TEDx talk, “How to Hustle Less.” Hannah’s talk addresses the harms of hustle culture and the obsession with productivity in the U.S. This is a timely and meaningful conversation for students and professionals alike.
A brief Q&A session will follow her presentation, and we’ll wrap up with announcements and plans for the rest of the semester.
