Devin Ashton Designs

As of yesterday, Devin Ashton Designs has officially closed without a scheduled date to reopen. A lot of little things lead me to this ultimate decision, most notably, what I was doing was no longer something I was passionate about. I have always had a passion for fashion, design, and creating, however, DA Designs did not feel like the right outlet for this anymore. Too often I’ve heard, “It doesn’t matter as long as you’re making money.” I refuse to stoop to this level of detachment and greed. Instead, I’m choosing to end while I’m still ahead & not trivialize the success I’ve had.

At 18, I created a brand and built it from the ground up. I owned 100% of my business and chose to self and reinvest rather than take loans or rely on investors that I would then have to answer to. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say I wouldn’t have done things differently, but what I learned from creating something and running DA solely by myself has given me experience I would have never gotten elsewhere.

I’m so grateful to those of you that chose to support me during this journey. To my parents and family that let me overtake their homes with beads and wire and stopped at random post offices for mail drops and coffee shops so I could have wifi- thank you. To my friends that pretended to care about taxes, marketing strategies, & SEO just so I could vent- thank you. To my loyal customers for constant and unwavering support- thank you. To all of the business owners and boss businesswomen I was blessed to meet & now to know- thank you. And to my brand representatives for zealously promoting my brand, my vision, and my products with creativity and passion- thank you.

To my competitors and critics that will look at this and think they’ve overrun me- you’re far from wrong. You haven’t seen the last of me. Class and originality will always get you farther than laziness and copying.

As for my next steps… my Devin Ashton Designs social media accounts will be transformed into “Devinstated” accounts to launch my new style and advice blog “Devinstated: Dev knows best.” I’m excited to share my experiences as well as shopping secrets for those souls soothed by shopping and fashion like me. Get a sneak peek of what’s next for me on my newly created style + advice blog devinstated.com (pretty bare now, but exciting things are coming!!)

I’m so excited to be headed in a new direction that better aligns my interests and hope that this long sappy post is the last in a long time for me. If/when DA designs is reopened it will be Fall 2016.
