While we welcome relief from the heat, these summer showers can lead to street flooding if storm drains get clogged with debris. But did you know storm drains do more than prevent flooding? They also have an impact on water quality and environmental health.

Unlike the drains in your home, storm drains do not connect to a treatment plant; ours flow directly into Lake Hartwell. This means whatever goes down, whether it’s trash, motor oil, or pet waste, ends up in our lake.

💧 Storm drains are not trash cans. Only rain should go down the drain.
