CSU Students Against Marshall- SAM

Thank you to the Cuyahoga County Council President Pernel Jones Jr., Vice President Cheryl Stephens, Councilwoman Yvonne Conwell, Councilman Dale Miller, Councilwoman Sunny Simon, Councilwoman Meredith Turner, and Cleveland City Council for unanimously passing Resolution 25-2022 sponsored by City Councilman Kevin Conwell, urging CSU to Remove Marshall.

Additionally, we’d like to thank former state Senator Nina Turner and the Cuyahoga County Progressive Caucus.

Hanna Kassis, is a Cleveland lawyer and an alumni of the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, which he successfully lobbied in 2021 to drop the name “John Marshall” which preceded its name.

Kassis began his petition calling on all 18 schools in the country, including three law schools, to remove the honorific “John Marshall” from their name in 2020 during the wake of George Floyd’s murder.
