Plant-Dyed Textiles

Learning from Natural Fibers & Materials

Photos from Maggie Latham Studio's post 11/29/2023

Watercolor paints have a place in my heart as a medium I was obsessed with when I was younger, and creating them with natural dyes has clicked for me more than I expected. The physicality of grinding and mulling is very meditative.

The second photo is a drawing l made of swamp mallow in between dye sessions at UpS. It was special to find this plant (already in the seed cycle of its lifespan) at the sanctuary after I planted hibiscus myself this year ❤️‍🔥 Also, finished the piece with paint made from goldenrod & black walnut.

Goldenrod & indigo moon bandana available in my web shop 🌛Photo for scale as this one is larger than the other moon bandanas.

Made with smooth, tightly woven organic cotton that stretches a bit and is very breathable, great for a light fall weather scarf. Also could be used as a small table cloth or an altar cloth 🕯️🌛Might be listing other variations of these I’ve made if there’s interest, let me know 💌
