"This constellation tells the tale of a peculiar, omnivorous tree, which once terrorized parts of rural Europe and Russia. The Hydra Tree stood more than 25’ high, with a number of vines covered with beautiful, fragrant flowers that attracted birds and small woodland animals, thinking they were a food source. Once the animals approached the flowers, the vines would whip around them, capturing and lifting them into its toothy maw, located at the top of the tree."
