A grateful thank you to the wonderful Barbara Tannenbaum + Jackie Bon of the Cleveland Museum of Art. Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to make a series of portraits of the incredible McArthur Genius Award and National Medal of Arts recipient Ann Hamilton prior to her sold-out lecture at the museum’s Gartner Auditorium.

Ann’s life’s work is nothing short of sublime. Attached is a silly production pic from after our shoot.

I have not accepted commissions of portraits since I became a professor decades ago. However, I do, on rare occasions, ask someone to sit for me when they profoundly inspire me in a rare way. Ann is such a human.

The ten years in the making Still and Moving | The Tactile Image is on view at the Cleveland Museum of Art through April 19.
