Donnie Lee Payne was last seen with his dog on foot collecting aluminum cans near Ocoee Village Apartments at 1350 2nd St NE, Cleveland, TN 37311 around 11:00AM on September 14th, 2008. Donnie did not drive. Later that day, Donnie’s dog was found to have been hit by a car near Waterlevel highway. Across all accounts, Donnie never would have left his dog behind. His case remains unsolved, 17 years later.

At the time of his disappearance, Donnie was 73 years old. He typically had gray stubble on his face and neck. His hair was mostly gray and balding. He was approximately 5'10" in height and weighed approximately 125 pounds. He had brown eyes and a scar on his chest above his heart. He was described as a kind person that helped others in need, even though he didn't have much himself. Today, he would be 90 years old.
