CWRU Student-Run Health Clinic

Continuing our celebration of Women’s History Month at the Student Run Health Clinic, today our spotlight is on Dr. Latina Brooks PhD, CNP, FAANP. Dr. Brooks is a lifelong Clevelander who attended Case Western Reserve University for both her undergraduate and graduate studies. She has now worked at Case for four and a half years and is currently an Assistant Professor as well as the director of both the Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice Programs at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. She has contributed to the world of research with studies into diabetes and other endocrine disorders in women as well as health disparities. Her message to her students is to “treat the patient that is in front of you” with an emphasis on listening to each patient and understanding that the patient is an active participant as well as the final decision maker regarding their care. Her work in helping to train the next generation of advanced practice nurses here at Case is of great importance and in this way she gives a tremendous amount back to the profession of nursing. In her spare time pre-COVID, one of her passions was traveling and she also very much enjoys old movies and reading about history. We will be introducing them one by one in a series of posts over the next several weeks. Today it is our pleasure to introduce you to Destiny Kaznoch our new Nursing Director!

A first year in the MN program, Destiny was excited to join the Student Run Health Clinic due to her passion for working with underserved and underrepresented patient populations and her desire to work in an interprofessional team. Destiny is a graduate of Kent State University and spent three years doing pediatric research at Cleveland Clinic Children’s. In her free time you can find her enjoying Brewnuts or exploring the Bedford Reservation. We are so excited to have you on the team, Destiny!
