What a lively night at Rock Creek Kitchen And Bar this evening! We got off to a rocky start with some video issues, but got that ironed out but not before getting off to a later-than-normal start.
Thank you to all six teams that joined in the fun this evening. Most regular faces but one brand new team. Hey and even Karen from The Cougars celebrated her birthday with us! Great fun!
I think because we were so delayed in starting then trying to play a little catch up, we were getting a little loosy-goosey in both a quote-unquote 'perfect' game (Winger? Totally wrong) to...um...questionable answers to children's book pages. Children's books, people! Besmirched!
But it's all in good...no...GREAT...fun as it always is and if you can't be correct, at least be entertaining. We really should be giving away some extra credit points for hilarious answers...we'll explore that.
ElLem (shortened) ruled the night...going to start calling them Electric Gillespie. They dominated both rounds claiming firsts and just printing Rock Creek money. Took us to question 6 of R1 to attain our first social of the evening but the round ended in some very competitive scores...no you Sub-Birds, but everyone else. Morning Glory led the game heading into the Lightning but could only come up with 2 of the correct answers. ElLem saw this opening and snatched Glory's soul by getting all answers correct, betting it all and besting them by 4 points.
Round 2 saw THREE socials...oh, right...it's the 'always easier' round two. We averaged about 6 regular round questions correct but ElLem, Cougs, and Glory all had 7 correct, but as we know, it's not which question, but what wager you collect. ElLem led heading into Lightning, got all 10 pts and then bet strategically edging out Cougs, We Don't Know and the field to attain yet another first place position.
They didn't select The Sporting Life as a final, tho...I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.
But hey, tonight isn't about my A/V woes, the bonus food and drinks, the 10-burnings, socials are anti-socials. Tonight is about the winners and these are the winners that won the most:
R1: Electric Lemonade (114pts); Morning Glory (110pts)
R2: Electric Lemonade (114 pts); Sub-Birds (84pts)
3rd place categories have been chosen for next week: Toy Story and Friends
Photo credit to Mark - just stellar shots this evening. Blurry, backlit, incomplete art. I mean, he's not good, but at least he's terrible (jk). Mark's the man, can't wait to poll 100 people with him this weekend.
But until next week playas - stay curious!

What can be said about tonight's game?
Was it competitive? Yes.
Was it collegial? Undoubtedly.
Was it chock full of absolutely everything that makes my game of questions and answer the absolute beast of an entertainment machine that it is? Let's not get carried away...
Screw that, it was all that and much more. Corporate trivia cannot deliver what it is that is supplied by my small batch, hand crafted, game of questions and answers. A smokey mix of thought provoking with an exquisite finish of oakey aha moments.
Tonight was a bouillabaisse of the entertaining and that actual (trivia) mixed in with visuals and wisecracks, 10 burners and socials.
Chuck, bouillabaisse is fish soup.
Oh. That's gross. Nevermind. Tonight was a spicy salsa. Chunky and medium.
Chuck, you're losing us. Can't you just tell us what might have been imparted by tonight's game? Yes!
- Bluetooth wireless technology was named after a king of Denmark/Norway
- The official drink of Ohio is tomato juice
- Mark and I gave our TEDTalk on McKinley and the assassination
- Connecticut, for some reason, considers themself 'The Pizza State'
- The most influential piece of men's art in the last 50 years (according to GQ) was the poster of Farrah Fawcett
- Yawning is a really good reason to open your mouth very wide
- Huckleberry is an actual American fruit, not just a literary character's first name
We had 8 GREAT teams this evening - two of them were drive-off-the-lot brand new (less than 10 miles). We appreciate 3's Company competing this evening, glad you could finally make your way out. Guessin' joined and fared a bit better, more on that below.
But we always appreciate everyone who supports the Tuesday night game and seeing Motley Brew expand out to become Morning Glory is a good thing until they...choose poorly. Sub-birds finally coming in at full strength also wonderful to see. And Lone Cougar is always a joy to host, especially when she's enforcing the game's integrity.
But while I might think the night is about me and the wonderfulness that I provide that brings us all together on the regular, tonight is really about the winners and here are the winners who won the most:
First Round: 1st - Hipster Fifi (116pts); Electric Lemonade (94pts)
Second Round: 1st - Guessin' (128pts); Snuggs (106pts)
Great night, warm night, summer is upon us so there are some fantastic Tuesdays in all our futures. We always say, especially to the new teams, if you play with us, you stay with us.
But until next week trivia family, stay curious!

NoRo - Let's Gooooooooooooooooooo!
Summer has officially kicked off and we might actually get to enjoy the open garage doors this week!
Karaoke? Blech. Queen of Hearts? Passe. Bingo? Largely illegal.
Trivia is where it's at and we'll be firing up the app this Tuesday for our absolutely awesome game of both questions AND answers. The game is crafted specifically for this venue and it's players - something you don't get from big corporate trivia providers.
So make a plan to get to Divot's Back 9 Bar & Grill Wednesday at 7pm, roll up your sleeves (if you're wearing any - suns out, guns out, amirite?) and get ready to compete in our fun, thought-provoking trivia.
Playing our game is a no-brainer. But bring your brain - you're gonna need it.
Hope to see ya!
