Apparently I miscalculated when I said I started this painting a few years ago…
I started it back in 2021. 😅
This piece has been sitting with me through different seasons, different versions of myself, and honestly, different levels of readiness.
I’m glad I didn’t finish it back then because, considering the meaning, I definitely wasn’t ready.
It’s beautiful seeing where I was and coming back to it almost 5 years after its inception.
Slowly. Patiently. With new eyes. 🌱

Hope all the moms are safe and surrounded by love. Mother’s Day is not happy for everyone. It’s such a complex celebration. So if you’re dealing with a lot today, I pray you’re with people who love you. If today is a source of joy, I’m glad you are surrounded by love. Hope you all got through the day in peace.
