Most youth wrestling parents are actively sabotaging their own kids.

Not accidentally.
Not unknowingly.
Actively.

You turned a developmental sport into an emotional minefield.

Every match becomes a test of your ego.
Every loss becomes a problem that must be fixed immediately.
Every referee is “blind.”
Every coach is “missing something.”

And the kid feels all of it.

They feel your tension in the warm-up.
They feel your panic after the first takedown.
They feel your disappointment even when you swear you’re “just being supportive.”

Kids don’t need a second coach in the stands.
They need safety.

Wrestling is already uncomfortable.
Already hard.
Already exposing.

When home becomes another judging environment, the sport stops being a place to grow and starts being a place to survive.

If your kid wrestles scared to make mistakes, you didn’t build toughness.
You built fear.

Sit down.
Observe.
Let failure teach.

Or don’t be shocked when the kid quits the moment they’re allowed to choose.
