Pulmonary fibrosis is a progressive lung disease that causes scarring of the lungs and makes breathing increasingly difficult. Cold air can cause bronchoconstriction, leading to symptoms like wheezing and coughing, especially in those with respiratory conditions. It can also increase the respiratory rate, dry out airways, stimulate mucus production, and potentially increase susceptibility to infections. Athletes may experience reduced performance in cold conditions. It's advised to wear a scarf or mask over the mouth and nose in cold weather, stay hydrated, and those with asthma should keep their inhalers handy.
