We are betting that most of you reading this article never stop to think about your feet. Unless, of course, they’re not functioning correctly.

To give you a greater appreciation, consider these podiatric marvels:

First, one-quarter of all the bones in your body are located in your feet; 26 bones in each foot equals a whopping 52 bones in a pair of feet!

Second, when you walk, your toe carries one-half of your body weight every time your heel lifts off the floor.

Third, your two feet do not share the same size! One is usually bigger than the other that’s why the ancient Romans – the first to do so – constructed distinctive right and left shoes. It’s why to this day, you’ll have a tough time switching which shoe goes on which feet.
