Quick Security Survey:

Do all perimeter doors have a quality k**b or lever lock set and deadbolt lock?

Do all your windows close and lock properly?

If you have a BILCO type door to your basement does it secure properly or lock from inside?

Are your basement windows secured with vigilante bars or other device making it difficult for someone to get in if a window is broken?

Are any outside ladders secured?

Is there access to your home through the garage? Is that interior door solid and secured with a deadbolt?

If you go out of town:

Are you using motion lights and timers on your home?

Is your mail being held or picked up by a trusted friend?

Is your newspaper suspended being picked up by someone?

Is there a vehicle parked in your driveway to give the appearance someone is home?

Ask a trusted friend or neighbor check on property for you.

Have an alarm? USE IT!!!!

If you are going away for more than a few weeks, make sure you have someone mow your lawn at least once. An
uncut lawn is a sign a house may be vacant.

These are just a few points to check and questions to ask yourself when you buy or move into a new home or going on vacation.
