The dead have no desires, no need to see you suffer in their honor. So why do you exhaust yourself with the same rituals? Speaking into the wind, staring at strangers who keep their likeness, listening to their favorite songs over and over again until they take up permanent residence in your aching head? What good does your weeping really do for them? Just as it always has been, the grief is for the living.
