This kitchen needed more than a few cosmetic changes.

This space went from dated and closed off to bright and open, finally letting the fireplace shine as the focal point it was always meant to be. The layout stayed largely the same, but the finishes, lighting and ceiling work completely changed how the room feels.

One thing worth knowing if you're renovating an older home, you don't have to choose between character and function. The original wood trim and door in this kitchen were preserved intentionally. Keeping details like that is often what makes a renovated older home still feel like itself.

This project was a full gut renovation. The entire layout was reworked from the ground up. What you see in the after photos isn't just new finishes, it's a completely reimagined space.

Cosmetic updates can only take a space so far. New paint, new fixtures and new flooring can refresh a room but they can't change how a space feels or functions. For that you have to go back to the bones.

This is what a home can become when you're willing to start from scratch.
