Old Collierville

With the long-standing Germantown Charity Horse Show taking place this weekend, our minds are naturally drifting to our own community's rich equestrian history.

As many know, Collierville was the home to GLL's Carbon Copy, the 1964 Walking Horse World Grand Champion! He was sired by the 1959 Grand Champion, Rodger's Perfection, and was a descendant of Midnight Sun, the first stallion to be crowned grand champion in 1945.

For today’s installment of , we are taking a trip back to the 1981 Collierville Walking Horse Classic with this photograph. While our archival records tell us that the gentleman on the left is ringmaster Melvin Booth, the identities of our talented first-place young rider and the little award presenter remain a mystery.

We would love to identify them if anyone has a clue!
