This time of year we typically see less activity at hummingbird feeders as mid-May to mid-July is nesting and breeding season for hummingbirds in this area. Not only are female hummingbirds busy sitting on eggs and raising their young (they may even raise 2 broods per season), they require much more protein so their diet changes to up to 75% insects and spiders (normally a hummingbird's diet is closer to 90% nectar and 10% insects). You should see more hummingbirds at your feeders by the end of July as the baby hummingbirds begin venturing out into the world.

In the mean time, don't forget that nectar is perishable. Experts recommend replacing the nectar and cleaning your feeders daily when the temperature is above 85 degrees and every other day when the temperature is above 80.

Unfortunately we will not be receiving the Humbl shelf stable dog food in jars. I was notified this morning that the company has permanently closed as they have been unable to overcome quality issues involving the integrity of the jar seals. We share your disappointment as we had been looking forward to sharing this food with your and your dogs as much as some of you were looking forward to trying it. We also commend Humbl and their commitment to quality such that they would rather close the company than make any compromises.
