Oak Grove Community Closet is proud to announce our new partnership with KG Love Thy Neighbor Food Pantry! Together, we'll share resources, strengthen our outreach, and serve even more families throughout our community.

A heartfelt thank you to King George Love Thy Neighbor Community Food Pantry for partnering with us. We're excited about what this partnership will accomplish as we work together to bless our neighbors and make an even greater impact across the Northern Neck.

King George Love Thy Neighbor Community Food Pantry offers a FREE shopper's choice food pantry, allowing individuals and families to shop for groceries and select the food and household items that best meet their needs in a welcoming and dignified environment. Their dedicated volunteers are the heart of their organization and make it possible to serve so many families each week.

💜 Community Work Day – Who’s Ready to Roll Up Those Sleeves? We Need YOU! 💚

Oak Grove Community Closet has an urgent need for volunteers to help with our upcoming Community Work Day! We have some exciting things happening behind the scenes, and we need as many helping hands as possible to help us prepare for the future.

Colonial Beach, VA

Join us as we work together on:
🟣 Sandblasting
🟢 Power Washing
🟣 Painting
🟢 General Cleanup

Whether you can stay for an hour or the entire morning, every helping hand makes a difference! All ages are welcome, and it’s also a great opportunity to earn community service hours.

Please wear old clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty or stained. Drinks, snacks, and all project supplies will be provided—just bring yourself and a willingness to help!

If you have access to any of the following equipment and would be willing to bring it, we would be incredibly grateful:

It’s hard to believe the new school year is just around the corner! If you’re looking for FREE clothing, shoes, backpacks, and other back-to-school essentials, we’d love to invite you to our Back-to-School Free Clothing, Shoes & Essentials Event!

Join the Oak Grove Community Closet on Sunday, August 2nd, from 1:00–3:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church Family Life Center, 8044 Leedstown Road, Colonial Beach, VA 22443.

Our amazing volunteers have been working hard behind the scenes preparing thousands of clothing items for you to shop from infants to adults, including plus sizes. We’ll also have backpacks, gently used shoes, lightweight jackets and hoodies, and new packs of underwear and socks, all while supplies last.

Everyone is welcome! We can’t wait to welcome you, help you get ready for the new school year, and continue blessing families throughout our community.

Please Note: Quantities are limited, and items are available while supplies last.

The Oak Grove Community Closet is a nonprofit outreach program of Oak Grove Baptist Church made possible entirely through the generous donations of our community. Our mission is simple: Recycle • Refresh • Re-Bless giving clothing and essentials a second life to bless local families.

We kindly ask that items received through our program not be resold. If you no longer have a need for something you’ve received, we encourage you to re-bless another family by passing it along so it can continue making a difference.

💜 Calling All Businesses, Professional Painters & Community Sponsors! 💚

As many of you know, the Oak Grove Community Closet continues to grow thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. As we continue expanding our outreach, we’re looking for a painting sponsor to help us complete an exciting project the weekend of July 18th.

We’re looking for a business, painting company, or individual willing to sponsor paint, supplies, professional painting services, or volunteer time.

Here’s what we’ll need:

🎨 Approximately 5 gallons of metal primer
🎨 Approximately 10 gallons of Sherwin-Williams Pro Industrial Sher-Cryl HPA HP Paint (Light Ivory)
🖌️ Paint rollers, brushes, trays, painter’s tape, extension poles, and other painting supplies

The estimated value of this project is approximately $1,200–$1,800, depending on donated materials, contractor pricing, and whether labor is donated.

As an outreach program of Oak Grove Baptist Church, all sponsorships and donations are tax-deductible.

**FREE Roller Skating, FREE Ice Cream, FREE Hot Dogs, FREE Chips & Drinks, Giveaways, Law Enforcement & Public Safety Displays, Meet your Sheriff's Office personnel, first responders, churches, businesses, nonprofits, and other community partners as we come together to celebrate what makes Westmoreland County a great place to live, work, and worship.**

National Night Out is a nationwide event that brings neighbors, law enforcement, and community organizations together to build stronger, safer communities. Bring your family, invite your friends, and come spend an evening with us!

💜 One Year Ago Today… 💚

One year ago today, Oak Grove Community Closet was officially approved and established as an outreach program of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Years earlier, God placed a vision on the heart of our Founder & Visionary to serve others through free clothing and shoes. After serving through a similar clothing ministry in Northern Virginia, that vision was brought home by creating a Recycle • Refresh • Re-Bless system where gently used clothing and shoes are given a second life while blessing local families.

Today also holds special meaning, as July 7 has long been a favorite date for our Founder & Visionary. Looking back, it’s a beautiful reminder that God’s timing is always perfect. He opened doors, brought together the right people, and faithfully guided this journey every step of the way.

A heartfelt thank you to Pastor Snipes for believing in this vision from the very beginning, and to everyone at Oak Grove Baptist Church for supporting this outreach program and for Oak Grove Baptist Church Food Pantry for the partnership. Thank you as well to our incredible volunteers, donors, sponsors, community partners, and supporters. Because of each of you, we’ve been blessed to serve hundreds of individuals and families throughout our first year.

While our official public launch took place the following month in August, today marks the anniversary of the day this outreach program was officially approved and established.

💜 Making Every Inch Count. One Team. One Mission. 💚

This is just a small glimpse of what happens behind the scenes at Oak Grove Community Closet as we prepare for our upcoming Back-to-School Event.

As a nonprofit community outreach program, we don’t have a large warehouse or unlimited storage space. When space gets a little tight, our incredible volunteers come together, make the best use of every available inch, and keep the preparation moving forward. It takes teamwork, organization, and a whole lot of heart to get everything ready for the families we’ll serve.

While we’re continuing to collect new backpacks, new packs of socks and underwear, and gently used shoes through July 19, our volunteers are already hard at work preparing clothing for the families we’ll serve. Every bag is opened, every item is carefully inspected, sorted by size, and organized to create a welcoming, boutique-style shopping experience.

This photo is just a small sample of the care, teamwork, and dedication that goes into every event we host.
