How to install drawer faces part 3
Once the faces are attached from the back as in part 2, remove the screws and install the drawer pulls. In this video I find out my drawer pull screws are too short.
How to install drawer faces part 2
With the faces held in place by temporary screws through the hardware holes, open the drawer and predrill for screws with a drill bit short enough not to poke all the way through the face. Then install screws. I installed two on each side for this drawer. Then see part 3.

I planned on a 1/4” gap between doors so I could use a couple carpenter pencils to space the faces. Then use a straight edge to line up to the faces below. To hold the face in place temporarily, drill a couple screws through the hardware holes. Then see part 2.

Faux timber floating shelves made sturdy. Pictures are in backwards order. I made 45 degree cuts and rips on all corners and fitted them together so that the seams lined up. I used a small piece of wood as a nailer for more strength, though I also nailed mitered corners together. Of course not all edges lined up perfectly so some need sanding and some need stainable wood glue.
Three sides of the shelf are enclosed and I left one side open to push the shelves onto special ledgers I made that are attached directly to studs. This way won’t worry about failure. Always avoid hanging on drywall if alone if you can help it.
These will be removed and stained soon, then replaced and nailed into the ledgers.

Cabinet paint update.

Building some cabinets and open faced shelves for a home office. Thankful for the partial shelter from the cold and snow outside.
Make the nail holes disappear with wood putty.
The way I learned it is to match the stain color with a combination of browns, reds, and yellows. Find the right combination and warm it together in your fingers and push it in.

Tile floor in the laundry room. I stripped the original floor down to plywood but forgot to get a picture. The. Put down schluter ditra and tiled. Two days later I came back and grouted in the seams. I’ll be back with a new post soon with new baseboards for the whole house.

Base boarding around rounded drywall corners means two 22.5 degree joints rather than a single 45 degree joint. It’s hard to line all three edges up perfectly so sand the corners as little as possible but as much as needed, then touch up with the final stain.
