🚨 URGENT: We Need Foster Homes! 🚨

Our most highly prized resource isn't our supplies, our donations, or our equipment... it's YOU. ❤️

Right now, Barnie's Place is overflowing with kittens and cats that need a safe place to land. Every foster home opens the door for us to rescue another life.

Whether you can foster a litter of playful kittens, a single kitten, a nursing mom with babies, or an adult cat who just needs a quiet place to recover, you can make an incredible difference. We provide food, litter, medical care, and ongoing support—you provide the love and a temporary home.

Without foster homes, we simply cannot continue saying "yes" to cats in need.

If you've ever thought about fostering, now is the time. Even fostering for a few weeks can save lives.

Please message Barnie's Place Feline Rescue or email [email protected] if you can help. Share this post so it reaches someone who has room in their heart and home.

🐾 You are our most valuable resource. Together, we can save more lives.

Meet Argyle.

Argyle is 11 years old, and adopting him has reminded me of something I wish more people knew: senior cats are just as deserving of a loving home as kittens.

I understand why people hesitate. We know we may not get as many years with them. That part is real. But what I am learning is that the time you do get can be incredibly meaningful. Senior cats seem to understand comfort. They understand safety. They understand when someone has chosen them.

And somehow, in the time they have, they often give back more love than you could ever expect.

There is something deeply special about giving an older cat a soft place to land. Their personalities are already there. You can usually see their temperament, their habits, their quirks, and what kind of home will make them happy. They are often calmer, gentler, and so grateful for simple things: a warm blanket, a quiet room, a full food bowl, a lap, a hand reaching down to pet them.

Argyle did not need to be young to be worthy of a second chance. He did not need to be perfect or tiny or full of kitten energy to deserve a home. He just needed someone to see him.

I know I may not get as much time with Argyle as I would with a younger cat. But I also know this: the time we do have matters. To him, it may be the difference between waiting in a shelter and spending his senior years loved, safe, and wanted.

So if you are thinking about adopting, please consider a senior cat. They still have so much love to give. And sometimes, the ones with the gray in their whiskers are the ones who leave the deepest paw prints on your heart. 🐾♥️

🩶 A Rare Find on the Farm! 🩶

Meet one of the newest cats trapped through our TNR program—and he's something truly special.

This handsome fellow is a dilute tortoiseshell MALE, an incredibly rare color pattern in cats. Nearly all tortoiseshell cats are female because the genes responsible for orange and black coloring are carried on the X chromosome. Male torties occur only under unusual genetic circumstances, making them estimated at only about 1 in 3,000 tortoiseshell cats!

He was trapped yesterday as part of a larger colony on a local farm and is now on his way to receiving the care every outdoor cat deserves: a health evaluation, vaccinations, and neuter surgery before returning to his home territory.

Why does TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) work?
🐾 Cats no longer contribute to the cycle of endless litters.
🐾 Neutered cats are less likely to roam, fight, and suffer injuries.
🐾 Vaccinations help protect them from preventable diseases.
🐾 Colony populations gradually decrease over time.
🐾 Individual cats live healthier, safer lives.

This beautiful boy is a perfect example. Instead of spending the rest of his life producing kittens and competing for resources, he'll return to his colony healthier, protected, and with a much better chance at a long life.

Every cat we trap matters. Every surgery prevents future suffering. Every colony we help moves us one step closer to reducing the number of homeless cats in our community.
Thank you to everyone who supports Barnie's Place and makes this lifesaving work possible. ❤️
