We would like to welcome Michael Johns QA Manager in Knoxville!

He is a seasoned Certified Welding Inspector with over 20 years of experience in welding, quality control, and inspection across diverse industries, including nuclear power, process piping, structural steel, and pipelines. He has held inspection roles for Vogtle, VC Summers, Columbia Gas Transmission, GSK, Baxter , B Braun Medical, and Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies.

This past week, AVANTech had the privilege of attending two key industry events: the USA Nuclear Generator & Supplier Executive Summit in Nashville, TN, and the NSA RP-ALARA Summer Meeting in Myrtle Beach, SC.

These events provided valuable opportunities to connect with industry leaders, collaborate on emerging challenges, and showcase AVANTech’s innovative solutions in nuclear services and technology. We’re always grateful for the chance to demonstrate how our expertise contributes to safer, more efficient operations across the nuclear sector.

We would like to welcome Rebecca Trotter,

Rebecca recently contributed her talents to the State of Tennessee, where she played a vital role in helping residents navigate and access essential public resources. Prior to that, she devoted several years to raising her family as a full-time mother—an experience that significantly strengthened her skills in organization, multitasking, problem-solving, and time management.

Now, Rebecca brings her dedication and versatility to AVANTech as our Administrative Assistant. In this role, she provides critical support across several key operational areas, including purchasing coordination, managing accounts payable, and assisting with quality assurance documentation. Her proactive approach and attention to detail make her an invaluable part of the team, helping to ensure that our administrative processes run efficiently and effectively.

Last week’s RadWaste Summit provided a valuable opportunity to connect with clients, teaming partners, and friends—all united by a shared commitment to delivering innovative and environmentally responsible solutions for the nuclear industry.

Buddy and Tammy had the chance to learn from a range of insightful sessions and engage with industry leaders.

Notably, Tammy, a member of our Program Development team, also served as a session moderator. The session focused on how our National Labs are using artificial intelligence to predict the behavior of groundwater contaminants and other key factors in environmental remediation including predicting when mercury vapors will be at highest and lowest resulting in the more efficient and safe D&D activities.

The groundbreaking work being done by the National Labs is transforming the way we approach complex environmental challenges and driving greater efficiency in remediation strategies.
