Many thanks to PLT Facilitators Darlene Faucette and Allison McDowell from South Carolina Child Care Resource & Referral for leading a PLT: Trees & Me workshop last month in Newberry!

The event kicked off with an icebreaker, "Forest Careers Matching Game," and it also included free exploration with woodworking and art, leafing through the guide, lesson planning and discussions throughout!

We appreciate SC CCR&R's partnership with SC PLT and look forward to next time!

A group of 43 early elementary education majors from USC took part in a Project Learning Tree Early Childhood Professional Development event earlier this month! We hope they will use the PLT resources some day in their lessons to get kids outside and help them learn and connect with our forests.

SCFC Environmental Education Program Manager Matt Schnabel led activities in the first session, and participants took the lead in the second session.

Activities included: Graph a Leaf Collection, Make Tree Silhouettes, Grow from a Seed, 3 Cheers for Trees, Sounds Around and more. Plus, future educators were introduced to the Trees & Me guide and online resources!

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this training possible!

ICYMI: Three of our facilitators recently led a PLT: Trees & Me workshop in Gaffney!

Sessions included a forest careers matching game, exploring the PLT website, exploration with woodworking and art, leafing through the guide, lesson planning and more.

At the end of the day, early learning center educator Paige Wright said, "I completely loved this class! Enjoyed it!"

Thank you to facilitators Darlene Faucette, Alison McDowell and Sherry Ly Ching Chen King for leading this event.

Did you miss this one? No worries! We have another coming up this Friday, March 20 in Newberry: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd5THVfEu0FEAnZXoSNdqCrR3Eiqh8RH49tQGBAXFDB7inYAQ/viewform
