Shot over 3 years The Wintering Grounds is now done and screening in California. Catch this short documentary at San Francisco IndieFest’s Green Film Festival at the Roxie Theater on October 14th. It will also be streaming off their website from October 12th to October 22nd. Also catch us near Santa Barbara at the NatureTrack Film Festival on October 7th. For most of the year, bands of world class freestyle kayakers roam the land in search of waves. But when the rivers freeze, everyone finds their way to a special spot on the Chattahoochee River on the Alabama-Georgia border. Squatting in an abandoned parking lot, they spend the winter training for the next world championships on the world’s best winter whitewater. Although called “certifiable lunatics” by the locals, this tight knit group is proof of the power of family and that indeed everything is more fun with friends. Please join us tomorrow, September 22nd, for an evening of art and film at the Corn Center for the Visual Arts and the Riverside Theatre Complex! This event was rescheduled from 08/18 due to unforeseen circumstances.

The evening will begin with an exhibition reception at 5:30 PM in the Illges Gallery for Coastal Fragility: The Magic of Intertidal Zones and Beyond by Dana Montlack. This will be followed by a screening of Nature Now’s Coast to Coast, a block of short-documentary films, at 7:00 PM at the MaingStage.
