In Memory of Ming (Mike) T. Liu, Distinguished CSE Professor at OSU

Professor Ming (Mike) T. Liu passed away peacefully on May 5th in Columbus, Ohio, three months before his 92nd birthday.

Professor Liu was an internationally renowned scholar, a long-time leader in the IEEE Computer Society, and a deeply respected mentor who had advised 55 Ph.D. students over the course of his distinguished career.

A memorial service for Professor Liu will be held at Schoedinger Worthington (6699 N High St, Worthington, OH 43085) on Saturday, May 23 at 1pm. Visiting hours and light reception will follow the service.

🎓 Dean’s Award for Outstanding Teaching Recognizing sustained excellence in the classroom:
• Neil Kirby: A Senior Lecturer and cornerstone of our undergraduate program, celebrated for his mentorship in Systems Programming and Capstone projects.

These honors highlight our department’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of scientific discovery while providing a transformative education for our students.
