Hey everyone, from here.
What happened at the show in Toronto was total bu****it.
A fan, and more specifically our friend Scott, was singled out by the band from the stage for wearing a banana costume. The crowd was encouraged to target him, even violently and his costume was torn apart while he was an unwilling participant.
F**k that.
Scott is a real person. He is not a prop, not a punchline, and not someone for a crowd to put their hands on because a band told them to. He is our friend, and he has been a supporter of Punkerton Records.
Hardcore and punk shows can be intense. Nobody is arguing otherwise. But there is a difference between crowd energy and publicly targeting one person. There is a difference between chaos and consent.
End It crossed that line.
The stage comes with responsibility. When someone with a microphone points the room at one person, they know exactly what kind of power they have. Pretending otherwise is cowardly.
End It owes Scott a real apology. Not a joke. Not a meme. Not a defensive statement. A real apology.
And while you are at it, you can send us the $65.00 to replace the costume. We have already talked to him.
People should be able to show up to shows, dress how they want, and exist without being humiliated or physically targeted.
Do better. Own it. Apologize.
