This year, the most important elected position in our community is on the ballot - school board member. To me, the choices for this moment are clear - Charles Newman, Ryan Holstine and Brooke LaGrasso. I encourage everyone to vote for these three.

While they are running independently, Newman, Holstine and LaGrasso have many things in common. All are parents with children who are or have recently graduated from the district. They all have earned the endorsement of our district teachers and support staff. And they all are showing up in the community. They are accessible and they respect the electorate by taking every opportunity to talk with voters. Each will also bring unique perspectives and talents to the role if elected.

Charles is a community leader, a PLSD alumni, a faith leader and the husband of a staff member. He has a desire to collaborate with others in leadership, has experience working as a public servant in the city of Columbus and a demonstrated ability to engage and connect with members of our community.

Ryan is a pragmatic and independent thinker who is active in the community, currently serving on the Violet Township Zoning Commission, the Fairfield County ADAMH board and he volunteers in our schools.

Brooke is a lifelong educator, a teacher in Columbus Public Schools and would bring a classroom perspective to the board that will be critical for navigating tough decisions that lie ahead.

Tuesday, November 4, is election day. At this particular moment - with our region and community growing, state funding dollars in question and our district’s teachers and staff overworked and demoralized - who you choose will determine whether our school system advances and grows with the community, or if it sinks into mediocrity.

I urge you to vote for our community’s future and choose Holstine, LaGrasso and Newman for PLSD Board of Education on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Ryan Holstine, Candidate, PLSD Board of Education
Vote Charles Newman
Brooke for the Board PLSD
