Adhesives play a vital role in manufacturing, enabling countless products and innovations across industries. But for some applications, manufacturers are exploring alternative joining approaches.

At the Adhesives & Bonding Expo, EWI will be showcasing an innovative polymer-to-metal joining technology that creates durable bonds using heat and engineered surface features—without the use of adhesives.

This technology offers potential advantages for applications where recyclability, sustainability, and material integration are key considerations. We'll also be highlighting LeakSight™, EWI's leak detection technology designed to help manufacturers reduce scrap and improve product quality.

If you're attending the show, don't miss Jeff Ellis's presentation, "Joining Without Adhesives," on June 23. Be sure to stop by Booth 524, where Jeff and Craig Beaumier will be available to discuss EWI's latest innovations and help explore solutions for your joining and manufacturing challenges.

We look forward to seeing you in Novi!

Rare earth magnets play a critical role in EVs, wind energy, and other electrification technologies. But with rare earth materials predominantly sourced from China, supply chain and pricing concerns remain a growing challenge.

A new paper from EWI explores how recycling and advanced materials processing can help address those risks.

EWI engineers Jerry Gould and Olga Eliseeva examine how hydrogen decrepitation and resistance-based sintering (RBS) can transform scrap rare earth magnets into reusable magnetic material through a fast, cost-effective process.

The paper also explores blending strategies that help maximize recycling yield and support long-term material availability.

We had an amazing time yesterday celebrating Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day at EWI!

From the moment they arrived, our future engineers jumped right into the action — exploring labs, learning from our experts, and seeing some seriously cool technology up close.

Highlights from the day included:
✨ Welding demos (including moon towers!)
✨ Robots in action for arc welding
✨ Laser welding and EDM machining
✨ Seeing how colors form on titanium welds
✨ Hands-on fun in the plastics lab — including laser etching

The best part? Watching curiosity spark into excitement.

Huge thanks to the team who made the day so engaging!

Who knows — we may have met a few future engineers in the making 👀
