PLEASE SHARE!!! Do you have Chattahoochee Valley (GA and AL) roots, and a Liberian connection? If so, we need your help! Over 500 folks from our region left for West Africa between the 1850s and 1900. We are partnering with Columbus State University geography students and faculty (Columbus State University History & Geography Department) to find and interview families and friends who remained in the region.
For more information on our joint research project, migrant family names, or to contact the CSU research team directly, go to https://liberiamigrationproject.com/
As this is an unusual research challenge, the team is creating some unusual approaches, including genealogical research, mapping common names, and sharing this story through social media. We'll keep you posted as the community geography research progresses – and please share this invitation with anyone who might be interested!
