"We never talked about it" ... but everyone felt it.

This is one of the most common things we hear from people who've experienced su***de loss at work. The grief was real. The impact was real. And nobody had a way to address it.

Some of the most common responses in workplaces after a su***de death the silence, the "let's get back to normal," the avoiding the person's name aren't malicious. They're just what people do when they don't have language or support.

There are better ways. And knowing what they are doesn't require being a grief expert. It just requires being willing to try.

LOSS Community Services has resources for workplaces navigating this.

Grief doesn't clock out.

When su***de loss touches a workplace, it doesn't stay neatly in the break room. It shows up in meetings. It sits in the empty chair. It rides the elevator with people who don't know what to say, so they say nothing.

Professional environments are still human environments. The people in them are still grieving, whether anyone names it or not.

If su***de loss has touched your workplace, you are not alone. And there is support that understands this specific kind of grief.

Have you meet Hope? 🐉💙
Hope is the traveling dragon at the center of our “We Are the 135” campaign.
She was created and donated by a mother who lost her daughter to su***de. Her story is rooted in love, grief, and the desire to turn personal loss into something that helps others feel seen and less alone.
Hope now travels throughout our community to help share an important message: every su***de impacts an estimated 135 people. She opens doors for conversations that are often hard to have and reminds us that even in the midst of loss, connection and support can grow.
Wherever Hope visits, she carries a simple message forward—your story matters, and you are not alone.

As we gather for fireworks, family, and celebration, we also hold space for those feeling the quiet weight of grief this holiday.

For many who have lost a loved one to su***de, holidays can be especially tender—full of memories, longing, or a sense of disconnection from the joy around us. If that’s true for you, please know: you are not alone.

Whether you're celebrating, grieving, or somewhere in between, we see you. We honor your journey and your courage to carry both love and loss.

💙 With care,
The LOSS Community Services Team
