We will be hosting a series of community events to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. This special library program invites the community to deepen its understanding of the experiences, sacrifices, and legacy of 9/11 responders. Through curated video vignettes from the Remembering 9/11 Oral History Project, followed by a live Q&A with Long Island responders, attendees will hear firsthand accounts of the emotional, physical, and moral challenges faced at Ground Zero. Attendees will also learn about the courage, camaraderie, and resilience that emerged and will have a chance to reflect on how these experiences have shaped responders’ lives over the past 25 years.

Synopsis: A study of 227 Long COVID patients found significantly elevated blood levels of pTau181, a protein linked to Alzheimer’s disease, compared to 227 persons without Long COVID. Increases averaged 59% compared to pre-infection levels, especially in those with symptoms lasting over 1.5 years. Researchers warn this may signal long-term neurocognitive risks, but need further validation.
