ZBF Geothermal in conjunction with CDM Smith and our client Lendlease have been working on the tallest multifamily project yet to install a geothermal system. This project features over 57 miles of pipe in the ground to provide heating and cooling for the 800+ apartments in the 37 story building.
ZBF is the applicant for both of the NYSERDA grants for this project, totaling over $4M.

This client wanted to maximize the height in their basement. The geothermal units ductwork was designed to be out of the way, maximizing the ceiling height in the basement. Normally a ductwork trunk would have ran under the beams to connect the two ducts, but instead we had custom designed ductwork fabricated to fit exactly into the ceiling joists to have no impact on height clearance.
Instead of using 2,200 gallons of oil a year, this client will have heating, cooling and hot water for $1,500/year
