Well things were pretty slow yesterday but Wiley Higgins and his wife Joanne stopped by and that made up for a slow day in a big way. You see he came to East Texas State University the second year I was here...in the fifties...and the art department was in an army barracks...we were beginning from scratch. The first summer my wife and I built all the tables used in our three room barracks. Then Wiley came in and sorta became my gofer,picker up after, helper, builder and friend. He jogged my memory and brought back old students and things that happened...a great afternoon. I wonder if he and any others remembering us silk screening and it was snowing outside and the fumes got so heavy that we just went outside, sat on the steps in the snow to recover from the fumes.For me those were good times.

I love to write poetry or blank verse ,often it is accompanied by a watercolor of mine,...as in this case...The show has a couple of these watercolor images with out the words , this is one of them. This is from sketches in Glazier National park back in younger days when you could almost run up the mountain...I laugh at that thought now.
