As we prepare for the upcoming school year, Commerce City Schools will implement our distraction-free learning environment for all students in grades PreK–12.

This initiative supports student learning, engagement, and safety while also preparing our district ahead of the state’s 2027–2028 requirement.

During the 2026 legislative session, Governor Brian Kemp signed into law an expansion of HB340 through HB1009, which eliminates cell phone use for students in grades K–12 beginning with the 2027–2028 school year.

Commerce City Schools is committed not only to meeting the requirements of this new legislation, but also to fast-forwarding the timeline beginning in FY26.

After a thorough review with the district administrative team and input from multiple stakeholders, Commerce City Schools will operate as a distraction-free learning environment for all students in grades PreK–12 during the upcoming school year.
