July Charitable Spotlight

This month we would like to highlight Cabarrus Meals on Wheels, a non-profit, serving local seniors since 1974.

Cabarrus Meals on Wheels provides a well-balanced, low fat, low sodium hot meals, prepared in house each morning, to be picked up and delivered by volunteers daily while simultaneously providing a safety check for seniors. Meals consist of meat, vegetables, bread, salad, juice or milk and a dessert. Meat can be pre-cut if needed and two frozen weekend meals are provided for individuals who are isolated or in ill health. Weekend meals are provided for a fee calculated on a sliding scale based on income with sponsorships available for those in need. They also provide meals on a temporary basis to those recently released from the hospital. You can find out what meals are served daily on their Monthly Food Calendar located on their website.

On average Cabarrus Meals on Wheels serves about 600 seniors in Cabarrus County per year and helps an average of 15 seniors celebrate their birthdays each month with cake and a gift as well as provide a gift to celebrate Christmas each year. They also keep the senior's pet in mind by providing pet food assistance through various group and donations.
