AI Won't Replace You, But…

Recently, my agency adopted Claude over ChatGPT. AI advances are moving faster than any of us can keep up with, so I was thankful when our CEO sent us to a two-hour instructional seminar with Anthropic.

Our instructor said something that has stayed with me, and I want to share it with you.

He put the competitive reality plainly: PR pros who adopt AI thoughtfully will have a real advantage over those who don't. More output, faster turnaround, better research. Who wouldn't want that? And yet I know there is still an underlying reluctance among some of us.

He said it squarely: The real risk isn't AI taking your job. It's a colleague who uses AI better than you, taking your client.

Those of us who are more seasoned remember the dawn of the Internet and the rise of social media. In both cases, survival meant arming yourself with good information by leaning into professional development and talking with your colleagues. A curious mind has always been a great tool in this profession, and that hasn't changed.
