Power On Time

I kind of get off on fixing really old equipment.
Today I worked on the governor, a mechanical governor, on a Onan 30 kW three phase generator that was put online in May 1965.
The owner was never properly instructed on maintaining the mechanical governor and keeping the oil level where it needs to be.
The parts are all obsolete, and although there was a old governor in the proper make and model by hoof.
I could’ve gotten him the new one however they said the generator had not been able to run the house and the air conditioner at the same time for the last 25 years and they didn’t want to spend all the money required to replace all the parts that I identified as being defective so I found parts from a marine generator that I could cross over, changed the pulley to match RPM ratios, put it together, did some minor adjustments, and the generator now starts right up maintains 60HZ to 61HZ 124V and 211V
 And now it can run the house and the air-conditioning and maintain proper speed and voltage
I had offered to fix the control panel, amp meter, volt meter, tachometer, hour meter. They declined. .
